A really key feature that has always been missing from the Nintendo Wii is the ability to play DVD movies. Most people already have a DVD player, but it would be a nice bonus if you're already paying over $250. However, Nintendo did promise to produce DVD playing Wiis these holidays. However, they have now turned their backs to it.

They are now saying that they will need to wait to next year. One reason is that they believe it will slow down the production of new Nintendo Wiis which is a big problem because there such a high demand for the WIi already. I guess since the Wii is already selling like hotcakes, there is no reason to push the DVD player just yet.  Another reason they mentioned is that the rolyaloties for DVD playing features are still too high for Nintendo.

It's unfortunate we don't have this feature, but they are promising next year. Maybe the DVD feature will coincide with a price cut. We'll just have to see.
